Swiss watchmaker TAG Heuer introduced a new version of the Connected – Golf Edition smart watch designed for golf enthusiasts.
Although the replica TAG Heuer is best known for its mechanically designed watches for aviation and motorsports, since 2015 its range has also included the Connected smart watch. The outer shell is from the familiar Carrera model, but inside is pulsating with an electronic mechanism. In 2017, the Connected Modular model of the smart watch was also available, which the user of the machine could change to a mechanical one, if desired, using the same shells and wristband. The latest generation of machinery is the Caliber E4, on which the new Golf Edition now introduced is also based.
Improvements to the new Caliber E4 aim for even better usability and ergonomics, both externally and internally. The larger knob and redesigned function buttons provide a better feel, and the interface has been redesigned to be easier to use, and to better support Golf functions.
The watch case is titanium coated with a black DLC coating, and the Sapphire crystal is surrounded by a ceramic watch ring. The interface of the TAG Heuer Connected Caliber E4 has been redesigned according to the manufacturer to make the watch’s golf functions easier to use. The watch features high-resolution Cartoon 2D images of more than 40,000 golf courses, revealing not only the shapes of the fairways but also the distances and obstacles.
Stroke tracking calculates and displays the lengths of a player’s strokes at the touch of a button, and maintains a scorecard. Next to the bus numbers circling the clock, the color codes show whether the bus has gone above or below the pair, i.e. the target result.
The stroke lengths, scorecard, and 3D maps can be viewed with the downloadable Tag-Heuer Golf app for Android and iPhone, which synchronizes data between the replica watches and the smartphone. The app also suggests a racket suitable for the next shot, which is especially useful for a golfer at the beginning of the hobby and developing.
The rubber wristband has an integrated magnetically attached marking pin, which makes it stylish to mark the position of the ball on green. Golf-themed dials are also available for download and are only available with the Golf Edition.
